In 1974, the New York design studio Danne & Blackburn, co-founded by Richard Danne and his partner Bruce Blackburn, was commissioned to rebrand NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration). They presented a singular solution – a red, curvy, bold logotype that spelled out N-A-S-A, with the notable absence of cross strokes in the 'A's. This design, which was both functional and futuristic, would later become known as "The Worm." As the Design Director, Richard Danne led Danne & Blackburn in creating the 90-page definitive brand manual, which set a prime example of brand design that continues to inspire and educate new generations of designers.

Space Watch is encased in a double-layered black metal case and serves as a homage to the vintage NASA products of that time, such as the NASA House Audio Tapes and Film Reels.

The iconic "The Worm" logo was officially retired in 1992, giving way to the revival of "The Meatball" logo, which was originally designed by NASA staff member James Modarelli in 1959. Despite its retirement, The Worm retained its popularity among the public and designers alike, becoming an emblematic symbol of space and human achievement. The logo's legacy endures, with its continued celebration in the broader community.
