This timepiece is a nod to the architectural marvel that is a symbol of Japan's Metabolism movement, a musthave for anyone who appreciates fine architecture and unique design.
Japanese Metabolism
The Metabolism Movement in architecture is an avant-garde design approach that emerged in the 1960s in postwar Japan, focusing on the integration of organic and biological principles into the architectural design as a
response to the rapid urbanization and economic growth that the country was experiencing. The architectures
as a result are dynamic and could potentially evolve and transform over time, reflecting the changing needs of
society and its inhabitants. The Nakagin Capsule Tower designed by famed architect Kisho Kurokawa is one of
the most iconic buildings that emerged from the movement.
Modular Design
Metabolist architects sought to create buildings with interchangeable components, allowing for easy expansion
or contraction as needed. These modular units were often inspired by biological forms, such as cells or
organisms, and could be combined in various ways to create complex, interconnected structures. Metabolist
architects envisioned futuristic cities that could grow organically and adapt to their surroundings, much like
living organisms. This approach often involved the use of large, interconnected megastructures seen in the
Nakagin Capsule Tower that could support a variety of different functions and adapt to changing conditions
over time.
Unexpected Materials
Crafted from new materials from our other models, Architecture features an open-heart dial made from concrete,
echoing the architectural inspiration behind it. The 41mm case is crafted from 316L stainless steel, a type of
surgical-grade steel that is well-known for its robustness, wearability and durability. Architecture, much like its
inspiration, is a timepiece that is built to last for years to come.
Open-heart with Clutch Wheel Exhibit
The open-heart details, reflecting the modular design of the Capsule Tower, are located between 6-7 o'clock and
3 o’clock on the dial, giving a glimpse of the intricate mechanism and clutch wheel at work while adjusting time
with the 7mm push/pull crown. The transparent case back, made from K1 glass allows you to see through the
watch’s inner workings without compromising its functionality. Staying true to our Japanese roots, Architecture
is powered by a Miyota movement and crafted entirely in Japan.
All-day Wearability
Architecture is the ultimate timepiece for those who demand style with wearability and durability. The
hypoallergenic nature of 316L stainless steel makes it ideal for those with sensitive skin, as it provides all-day
wear without any risk of irritation. This material is also more resistant to corrosion, meaning the watch will
retain its shine and lustre even after long wear, while the colourfast nature makes it incredibly easy to clean.
Simply wipe the watch with a cloth and it will look as good as new. The lens and case back, both crafted from
K1 glass with water-resistant up to 10ATM, provide strong protection from everyday activities. In the dark,
Super-LumiNova on the essential components ensures you can tell time with ease.
With its robust construction, anti-allergenic properties, and intricate design, Architecture will be a reliable
